This marionette of a nobleman was created around 1930 by the Czech carver Jindřich Adámek (1874-1955).
In the case of the sale of this puppet, we dedicate half of the amount collected to the development of PUP - Puppet University Prague
This beautiful, handmade, antique marionette of a nobleman is a real rarity in our collection. His beautiful coat, like his suit, is made of velvet and his neck is surrounded by lace. His shoes and beard are carved from wood, they faithfully imitate their real sources of inspiration. Also notice the playful yellow fringes that adorn his pants. All materials used to make this marionette are original and of very good quality.
He came from a carving family, his carvings are mostly nativity scenes; he created both individual figures and entire sets with scenery. He is also the author of many marionettes and complete marionette theaters. His marionettes are characterized by a simple but distinctive carving, wide faces and large eyes. The faces of the girl's marionettes resemble tender porcelain dolls. The heads of women's marionettes are carved without hair so that hairpins can be used and replaced. His marionettes were professionally mastered both in terms of expression and technology.
Everything matched the description. The quality is very on point. It met my full expectations at beyond 100% . Very professional.
It’s adorable and so much fun to play with. My 4 year old loves watching the marionette dance!
