There was a word in the beginning. Actually mail. With demand. Can you handle ...? It was a challenge, and huge. It took a couple of days to do it, fortunately we had quite a hand in terms of details, probably mainly due to the gallows deadline.
JWT, a global player in the advertising industry, had a brief for an advertising Anti-Fraud campaign for the Saudi Bank. In this case, it wasn't a shoot, but a photo shoot - a massive print campaign across Saudi Arabia. Details of why they remain a mystery (for you), however, there has been what is a nightmare for almost every production. The time-consuming concept was approved less than two weeks before implementation.
Courtship lasted two days and as soon as we slapped, a briefly elaborated brief landed in the mail. The free drawing, however, leaves quite a lot of realization space, so the visual and technical details were solved for a few more days. In the meantime, 3D-guys have begun modeling ...
In a record time, puppets were modeled, approved and printed. Then our workshop started and prioritably assemble puppets, paint them, make hairstyles, dress and string them. Yes, the part of work is really like a beauty salon, sometimes we feel that way. Only the hairdresser has a little more work - the puppet must have a precise wig according to the photo or picture.
Sooo, they're ready, ready to go into the world. We crushed a tear and sent our Verunka, a longtime friend, to a long journey. Why? Because the day after tomorrow the photo shoot began. Even if we found a reliable carrier, it would risk. It happened to us a few times that the puppets were "stuck" - the customs officers of different states did not know whether to release the shipment, if it is not harmful, and what is it? A few times it happened to us with our Bonnie at first, I don't want to know what had to happen in their heads ...
We verified that it is safest to bring puppets in person. And paying ticket for Verunka had three advantages: It is cheaper (as a fact), it is the fastest (fact) and the client can appreciate it (really!). Oh, and actually there was a fourth advantage - in Beirut at that time Vera's friend studied, so actually: Puppets strengthen relationships :)
We like challenges if you have one, write us :)
My marionette-making workshop was the most fun I had during my visit to Prague! Everyone at Czech Marionettes was incredibly welcoming and encouraging. Lucy helped me to put the puppet together while another artist helped me to mix the paint. I love how it turned out! I wanted to do something different yet quintessentially Czech while I was here and this was the perfect choice! If you like arts and crafts and friendly people, youll enjoy this workshop. Sadly marionette theater performances are disappearing from Prague. But the talented people who carry on the traditions and artistic crafts are still here and they will gladly introduce you to this wonderful tradition.
Amazing! This little fellow is crafted with skill, love, and whimsy. I have several of the marionettes and each and everyone is a work of art. Cant recommend enough; adore!
